SV Racing’s Tom Stockton gets WIX Filters backing for Junior Saloons title charge

SV Racing’s Tom Stockton will complete his Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) campaign with a striking new yellow and black livery, having received exciting and prestigious backing from WIX Filters.

Stockton is the latest young racer to step onto the bottom rung of SV Racing’s ‘stairway of talent’ in the JSCC and has forged a potentially lucrative partnership that will elevate the WIX brand and Stockton’s own profile as he strives to reach the uppermost echelons of motorsport.

The Cheshire-based hotshot has been a regular podium finisher in 2014, benefiting greatly from his newly-formed association with SV Racing, and will see out this and next season with his Citroen Saxo VTR decorated in WIX’s distinctive yellow and black livery.

Since 1939, WIX Filters has been at the cutting-edge of filtration innovations, designing, manufacturing and distributing products that include oil, air, cabin interior, fuel, coolant, transmission and hydraulic filters for automobiles, trucks, off-road equipment and manufacturing applications.

Proud of his new partnership with WIX, Stockton is excited about what the future holds and, while his short-term ambition is to win the 2014 JSCC title, he hopes the brand association will help further his career in the long-term too.

“This is a really exciting development and I’m thrilled to have formed an association with such an iconic brand like WIX Filters, as we can start building new bridges that will hopefully help me rise up the motorsport ladder” said Stockton. “It’s nice to know that WIX has faith in my ability and will be very proud to race with the striking yellow and black livery at Brands Hatch’s round of the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC). I will obviously need sponsorship to progress in my career and I think this could be a springboard to the JSCC title.”

WIX Filters Managing Director, Wayne Stevens, said: “WIX was approached by Tom’s dad, Andrew, through a third party, so I took a good look at the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) and found I liked the series’ individual style and the idea of having young people competing in full-blown racing cars. I also liked Tom as a person and was impressed by his performances to date. As a result, there was a strong desire to dip our toes into the JSCC and support a young, growing talent. WIX will have been trading for 75 years in August and has supported motorsport from grassroots upwards for over four decades, but I’m really looking forward to seeing how Tom performs as part of the WIX motorsport family for the remainder of 2014 and beyond.”

SV Racing Director, Danny Buxton, hails WIX’s support for Stockton as a significant coup for the Cheshire driver, and a ringing endorsement for SV Racing’s ‘stairway of talent’, which provides skilled young racers with a direct route to the top levels of motor racing through successful programmes in the JSCC, Michelin Clio Cup Series, Courier Connections Renault UK Clio Cup, Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup and Renault Eurocup Clio Championship.

“This is fantastic news for Tom, and is recognition for his superb development during the season,” said Buxton. “With WIX Filters behind him and SV Racing’s help, he should be in great shape to attack the second half of the Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) season. He has certainly made himself stand out as ‘one to watch’ and, for me, his overtaking abilities are unrivalled, especially considering his lack of experience. Big things are expected of him.”
